I just ran a software update from within Flashbuilder 4.5 for Sourcemate. After completing the download, I was asked to restart Flashbuilder to complete the update. Upon restart, I now received the message "The Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library."

I have tried restarting the computer and Flashbuilder, and this message seems to be persistent. The only option I've found thus far is to reinstall Flashbuilder, which I prefer not to do as it would require a lot of time/work on my part which I simply do no have at the moment. I hope you can help.

    Hi Kyle,

We've never seen anything like that before. It sounds like the FB installation is corrupt. It sounds like something happened during the plugin installation. This is a process that Eclipse/FB handle and SourceMate code doesn’t even execute.

You can try uninstalling SourceMate by deleting the plugin files in the FlashBuilder/eclipse/plugins directory but I don’t believe that will help. The problem is with the main Eclipse/FB launcher and not SourceMate.

When you installed SourceMate did you happen to install anything else at the same time (perhaps inadvertently)? If you don't uncheck the "Contact all sites..." checkbox during installation you can sometimes inadvertently install other plugins that have active installation sites configured in your preferences.

If you google "was unable to locate its companion shared library" you can see some suggestion on trying to resolve the problem but I think your best bet will probably be to reinstall FB.

    Regards,
    -Chris
